'The Official Regio Augsburg Rock Song'
In November, 2009 Hamburg Ramönes toured Bavaria in the wake of Hamburg's FC St. Pauli playing away at FC Augsburg. During packed concerts in Munich and Augsburg Hambo Rambo met and became friends with General Seckler's Ramones army.
Gerhard Seckler and his mates, the photographer Lothar Felkel and Singer/Songwriter Gerhard "Sweety" Schönherz introduced themselves as die-hard Ramones Fans, who - same as Ecki Ramöne - had already seen and met the Ramones at Hamburg Markthalle in 1978.
During the next decades they had met the band several times with full Backstage access and became very close, in particular with DeeDee Ramone. Together with their Augsburg mob they had organised several Ramones Tribute Festivals Concerts and Exhibitions, inter alia, supported by Arturo Vega and C.J. Ramone.
Ham Ram's appreciation of Augsburg's Ramones mob was instant and the gig at the Hemple's Club a great success. On the next day, Tommy Ramöne woke up with a big hangover as wellas the idea of an Augsburg Song called "Fugger City". The timing was ideal, because, as it turned out, the City of Augsburg's Tourist Association was looking for catchy Rock Songs, which would prevent the City to be connected with Bavarian Folk image and Lederhosen any longer.
The outcome of the above is a 4-Track CD called "The Official Regio Augsburg Rock Song". The CD was released by Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH on 15th October, 2010 and contains 2 Songs in 2 variations by each General Gerhard Seckler as well as Hamburg Ramönes. Ham Ram's contribution "Fugger City" is represented twice here, the first version - in German language - is a collaboration with the King of Augsburg, Mr. Sweety Schönherz, and the second version is Ramones Pop-Punk as taken from the forthcoming third CD "UNIFORM THING".
Free copies of the CD can be obtained via the Regio Augsburg Tourismus GmbH or in our Shop.
